Meta Stick Drift:
We've seen an uptick in hardware issues for older controllers, where players find themselves having "stick drift" or moving in-game without touching the thumbstick. This same hardware issue can also lead to a "flickering" where the putter moves between a left/right hand as the game determines which controller to use.
Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:
- Take the battery out of the uncooperative controller and use the opposite controller. If you try this path out, we recommend utilizing our "Invert Hands" settings option (listed on the 'Putter' tab of the settings), which will align you to the appropriate side. (If you're a righty using a left-handed controller, you'll still align on the right side.)
- On the Hardware level, you can calibrate your controller to help refine your movement.
- Navigate Settings > Devices > Controllers > Thumbstick Range and Dead Zone. Go through the steps provided at this screen to begin calibration. Recalibrating your controller can help address drifting issues on a larger level.
Bad Meta Quest Download
Users see: 3 flashing dots on black screen, left hanging on one of the MC logo screens.
This is likely a bad download of our game. This is a fairly common bug for Quest devices, and an uninstall/reinstall of the Walkabout application should resolve the issue. Note:
- We use an external Cloud Save sync on our player data, which means your in-game history will not be lost upon an uninstall/reinstall.
- Players will not need to repurchase Walkabout to reinstall it on their device.
Known Meta OS Bug
Issue: Meta reintroduced the bug in the Quest that causes idle controllers outside the guardian boundary to display the guardian grid. People had to resort to either drawing a little cut out in the guardian to keep the controller in, or taking the battery out of a controller.
Workaround: There is a way in the Quest settings to remap the functions of the Oculus button on the right controller to the button on the left. It's under Settings-->Devices⟶ Controller the toggle will be the 4th one down to switch the Oculus button and the Menu button
